Morality Without God

           

               A good neuroscientist named Abhijit Naskar once said, " Morality does not come from a book, it comes from the human mind." His quote means that morality does not come from the Bible or Quran and it's only made of our mind. So what is morality? Who is God to us? Can there be morality without God? I think there's still morality without God, here's why.

             Morality, for me, is a system which tells us what action is right and wrong and God is the divine being most of us believed created the universe and the one who gave us studies about right and wrong. These two are connected because we believe that God created morality but I think there's still morality without God. It is because there are some people who don't believe there's a "God" at all but somehow, they still know what action is right and wrong.

             This is just my opinion, I think people can still differ what's right and wrong even without God because the concept of it comes from our own mind. Like Abhijit Naskar said, the concept of right and wrong depends on the person's belief. If he thinks he's right then he's right, if he thinks he's wrong then he's wrong. It's just that many people who had the same beliefs combined and formed a society. That society grew bigger and bigger and made laws. We all know how weak a person's mind is. We're all easily influenced by other people, so it's easy for us to believe what they believe too. A good example of this is the movie "The Purge", where there was a law created that they can kill anyone legally once a year. We all know that it's wrong to kill even if it's just once a year but for them it's right.

           It just shows that we're the one who made the concept of morality. therefore, there's still morality without God because it only exists in our mind and it depends on the person's belief.
